Necksaviour Mini Neck Stretcher Review

Neck pain and stiffness has risen exponentially since the start of widespread smartphone use. Between smartphones, video games and computers, both kids and adults are developing a “stiff neck’”.

If you think about how much time we spend on our phones this is not surprising but it is also not something that is published either. Given how integrated technology is with our daily lives, it’s easy to forget that the technology has been in large-scale use for less than 20 years!

How many hours do you spend slouching in front of a screen?

Think about work, school, texting, social media, etc.Forbes brought this issue to light with an article about how high texting and smartphone usage can actually give you permanent neck pain.

A 2011 study published in the International Journal of Occupational Safety and Ergonomics found that 53 percent of mobile phone users suffer numbness or neck aches.

Another, potentially more troubling study, led by Professor Erik Peper of San Francisco State University and published in the journal Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, discovered that 83 percent of subjects reported some hand and neck pain during texting.

In this review, I will walk you through everything you need to know about the necksaviour mini, my own experience, helpful tips for beginners, and how you can get a 10% discount! Let’s get started!

What is necksaviour mini?

The necksaviour mini is a gentle yet effective neck stretcher that can help restore your natural head and neck position, relieving symptoms of neck pain.

The necksaviour is made of soft, comfortable and skin friendly Polyethylene foam material. It uses resistance to revolve pressure points and reverse the effects of having poor posture and help you relieve neck strain.

The necksaviour was designed by a physiotherapist, started out as a project on Kickstarter, was the winner of MDEA (Medical Design Excellence Award) in 2016.This uniquely designed neck stretcher is both portable and extremely easy to use.

It’s lightweight and even comes with its own drawstring bag so you can take it with you on the go.

The goal of the necksaviour mini is to relieve neck pain and stiffness, help with spinal correction, postural work naturally and without the use of medication.

To top it all off, the necksaviour mini can also be used alongside pilates and Yoga exercises.

How does the necksaviour mini work?

The necksaviour can apply up to 25 pounds of traction to the neck. Traction is a proven treatment that is often used by Therapists to relieve stress-related headaches, neck stiffness, disc problems, and even arthritis.

The necksaviour gives you a better way to relieve pain without having to resort and rely on medication.

What is Traction?

Traction is a method of reducing the pressure on facet joints and opening up the spaces where your nerves exit the spinal canal. This can help to relieve pressure from compressed nerves. Another benefit of traction is that it can increase blood flow by stretching muscles and ligaments.

The necksaviour mini is customizable so you can use it in the manner that best suits your needs and comfort. It gives your four options for use.

You can pick a combination between long or short neck (making it suitable for any neck length) and light or strong traction force.

A video about necksaviour mini:

One of the best things about the necksaviour is how easy and simple it is to use.

Simply bend the foam neck stretcher and place it in the space between your shoulders and the base of your skull.

Rest and relax your head before allowing the device to flex.

You will feel a gentle traction to the neck.To begin You should first try out the four different options for use:

  • Short neck & light stretch
  • Short neck & strong stretch
  • Long neck & light stretch
  • Long neck & strong stretch

  1. Choose either the long or short neck option, try them both to see what feels better. Then try the light or strong neck stretch. Once again I recommend trying both and see which one feels best.
  2. Bend the necksaviour in half according to your choice of stretch options. You can use your hands to bend it or your legs.
  3. Lay down flat on your back on a nice and comfortable surface. Place the necksaviour in a “U” shape under your neck. One edge should be under the base of your skull and the other resting on top of your shoulders.
  4. Now relax (my favorite part) and let the necksaviour mini do it’s magic!
  5. You may have to make little adjustments at first to get comfortable.

necksaviour has Quick Guide instructions and video demonstration available for reference as well.

While it is very easy to use, I recommend that you read over the Full Instructions for a clear understanding of how to use it, what you should feel while using it, and precautions to be aware of.

It is recommended that you gradually increase the amount of time and frequency using the necksaviour.

If you are just starting out, start with 2 minutes up to 3 times a day. You can then increase each session by 1 minute per day up to a maximum of 15-20 minutes in any one session.

It varies from person to person. Some people will use it multiple times a day, once a day, or as needed.

I would recommend aiming for at least 1 session every day. And then more as needed whenever you need a headache or neck/tension/ stiffness relief.

IMPORTANT!! Do not fall asleep while using necksaviour, if necessary, set an alarm! Also, consult your therapist/ doctor as they may have specific recommendations based on your personal situation and needs.

Where can you use the necksavior mini?

There are different places and uses for the necksaviour mini. It is recommended to be used while you are laying down on a firm surface like the floor or on an exercise mat. The necksaviour has been used with/in:

  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • In bed
  • Meditation
  • Head and Neck support
  • On the beach
  • Outside
  • Traveling

necksaviour vs. Neck Hammock

Neck Hammock Necksavior comparison

You might have heard of a neck hammock which is also intended to be used for the similar purpose of helping with neck pain. While you might think that either one of these two products could be the solution to your neck stiffness only one is proven to provide proper “Neck Traction”.

After all, traction is the stretching method commonly used by Therapists so the whole point behind seeking an at-home solution for your neck pain is to find a quality product that will actually stretch your head and neck!

This is what makes the necksaviour different from a neck hammock. Cr. Philip Cordova, a Chiropractor in Texas, gave us insight on the major flaws he found with the neck hammock design.

Dr. Cordova observed that while the neck hammock looks relaxing, you won’t be able to get any actually pull on the head and neck in a manner that would be useful.

A neck hammock can give you a “relaxed” feeling afterward since it does take some pressure off your neck but you will not be able to get enough force to pull on the head and neck without the Neck Hammock pulling out from under you and causing your head to smack against the floor.

This fact alone was enough of a reason for me to pass on a neck hammock.

Other reasons I did not think a neck hammock was a good choice was because people that have tried a neck hammock complained about how difficult it was to set up, it was an unsafe and complicated design, and it is not travel-friendly for outdoor use.

People that have tried using a neck hammock said that it was difficult to find a place you can hook the hammock to so your head is actually hanging the right distance off the ground.

I also don’t like that it needs to be attached to a door or wall, therefore making it much less portable and not ideal for outdoor use and travel. Not only does this make it difficult to use but you can’t just go outside and use it after a yoga workout or use it while laying on your bed.

necksaviour Classic vs. necksaviour mini

These are very similar and both work the same way and will give you a great stretch. The biggest difference between the two is that the mini is smaller in size and therefore more portable and better option for travel.

Reviews and Testimonials

My Experience:

I use the necksaviour mini just about every day! Like many others, I spend a large portion of my day at my laptop or answering emails & text messages on my phone.

I regularly found myself twisting, cracking and pulling at my neck trying to give it a stretch that would take away the stiffness.

When I feel stiffness, it's easy to take a 5 to 10-minute break to lay down and get a good stretch. This is also how I was able to finally make time in my day to explore meditation.

If you haven't practiced meditation before, a great free app to get your started is Insightful Timer, available on both Apple and Android. (Add me as a friend on the app and we can keep each other motivated!)

If find myself particularly busy, I like to fit it in my schedule by using it while on a phone call. Since it does not require any setup, it's very easy to use at any time.

I love that it's so portable, I practically live on the beach and the necksaviour mini is perfect neck and head support when I am laying on the sand.I also use it during yoga.

It’s a great tool for keeping the head, neck, and spine in proper alignment while also giving me a gentle and relaxing stretch.

The necksaviour mini has to be on of the top health and wellness products that have had the greatest impact on improving my health.

necksaviour gets my seal of approval and I highly recommend it my family and friends. (Can you guess what they will be getting for Christmas this year?! Shhhh… don’t tell!)

I’m not the only one that has had amazing improvement in a headache, tension, and neck pain relief - here are a couple of necksavior reviews and testimonials from other customers:

"I have suffered from chronic neck pain as a result of Fibromyalgia (ME) for many years. Using the necksaviour twice a day has made a tremendous difference. Although I am still in pain I find it much easier to manage and the necksaviour provides welcome relief. In addition, I used to suffer a lot from tension headaches and find that I get them far less frequently since using necksaviour. I also travel a lot on business. necksaviour fits into my baggage very easily and is the first thing I take out when I check into my hotel to relieve the stress of flying." - Andy Lopata, International Business Speaker

"I highly recommend necksaviour for cervicogenic headaches and facet joint related pain. Ease of use and effective relief are the main advantages. In fact, I use it personally." - Dr Steve Ornstein - www.necksolutions.com

"Great product. Tried and tested by us and ordered a few for our chiropractic clinic" - Robert Spratley

Final Thoughts

What I really enjoy about the necksaviour mini is the design. I always believe that the simpler a product is to use the better. Unlike other products for neck pain and tension relief, the necksaviour does not have a bunch of different straps or complicated parts to it.

Design: easy to use, no assembly required. The foam material feels soft against my skin and it's comfortable to use.

Features: the necksaviour is adjustable to accommodate different neck sizes and stretching intensities. You can take it outside and it's very easy to use and doesn't require complicated setup.

Quality: It's made of high-quality foam material and even though it's light, it's built to last. It's easy to clean as well. I have only had mine for short time, I will update this review as time goes on to make a note of how it's standing up to daily use.

Value: The necksaviour mini is more affordable than some of the other brand names in the market like the Neck Hammock which is not only more expensive ($49+) but poorly designed, in my opinion. With the necksaviour, you also get a nice little bag for easy storage and a bag clip for easy transport. The only downside is that you might have to pay extra for shipping depending on where you are located.I've noticed a huge improvement in how my neck and shoulders feel.

I don't have shoulder and neck tension that built up when I work or spend extended periods of time in front of a computer. I didn't realize how much better I would feel after using the necksaviour mini on a regular basis. I love it and I think everyone should use it!
