How to Clean Your Yoga Mat
If your a yoga fan your mat has been with you through thick and thin. You've worked out on it at the gym, at the park, studio, and various rooms in your home. After a while it becomes overdue for a good cleaning. Hopefully you'll clean it before it starts to smell!
Most yoga mats have little grooves which are the perfect breeding ground for bacteria to collect. This is especially the case if you are sweating during yoga. Just because you can't see them, doesn't mean that they aren't there!
To really practice good yoga mat hygiene you should be cleaning it every time you roll it up, but even I get lazy so this home made yoga mat cleaning recipe will do for when I do remember to clean my mat!

Easy Natural DIY Yoga Mat Cleaner
Here is your yoga mat cleaner shopping list:
- Empty plastic or glass spray bottle (I bought mine at the dollar store)
- 1 cup Water
- 1 cup White vinegar
- Your choice of calming essential oils (3-6 drops per batch, I prefer lavender or lemon for a fresh clean scent)
- Mix all ingredients and pour into spray bottle, shake lightly
- Spray over your mat and let sit for a 2-5 minutes
- Wipe with a cloth
- Let air dry
This is a super simply and easy recipe that you can't go wrong with. Play around with your choice of essential oils till you find the smell that you like best. I usually clean my mat one a week, you can clean it as often as you'd like!
